About Me

Hi! My name is Melissa Peña and I am a certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. I started my fitness journey about 11 years ago and encountered almost anything you could think of along the way. I’ve personally dealt with gymtimidation, being “skinny fat,” bad bulking stages, injuries, inefficient exercising methods and nutrition challenges. It took me YEARS to figure out how to reach my goals in a sustainable way and when I finally did I felt inspired to help others avoid the frustrating hurdles that I dealt with to help them see results faster and safer than I did.

My goal with my clients is not to be their trainer for the rest of their lives, but to teach them lifelong lessons so that they may not need me in the future. I genuinely love what I do and really believe that fitness can positively impact everyone. I approach fitness and nutrition through a realistic and flexible way and aim to make working out and eating well something each of my clients enjoy and take pride in. Fitness has not just changed my body, but it has made me more confident, happier, and healthier than I could have ever imagined.

Nutrition

When I started my fitness journey I thought all I had to do to gain muscle was go to the gym. And although this did lead me to some “newbie gains” right off the bat, I still was nowhere close to where I wanted to be. It was not until years later, when I started focusing on my nutrition, that I saw true results. When clients ask me today what has made the most impact, I would say nutrition is about 80% of what truly propels you towards meeting your goals.

I will admit, I definitely struggled most in this sector of my journey, and still do from time to time. I currently work two jobs; during the weekday I work as an engineer aside from my personal training business and to say my schedule is hectic is an understatement. However, this has provided me with a unique perspective that I get to share with my clients, as it has taught me how to juggle my day to day life while still meeting my goals. I completely understand how hard nutrition can be for everyone, which is why I focus on tailoring each client's nutritional goals to ensure they fit their lifestyle. The goal for me is not to get my clients to “diet,” but to learn to sustainably eat healthy and to enjoy doing so.

Fitness

I firmly believe that enjoying what you are doing in the gym is just as important as going. That is why my goal is to help each client learn how to train how they want without sacrificing results. So instead of walking in the gym and spending hours doing exercises you hate, I provide each client with a program that fits their lifestyle. Everyone has unique needs and everyone's goals are different, which is why a tailored program is SO important. I also place emphasis on teaching my clients so that they can one day go to the gym on their own without my guidance. The goal is to help as many people as I can learn about how to move through the gym so that they adopt this for life, not just while they are working with me.

Lifestyle

This is cliche, I know, but when you join my program you're not just changing your body, you are changing your lifestyle. This aspect of my program places emphasis on winning the “inner game” of fitness and health. Most people focus on the outer portion of fitness, the easy part that is rather simple and straightforward, but fail to address the much harder and very real inner game of self-discipline and consistency. I am here to help you realize that knowing what to do does not automatically equate to getting results. I coach you through mindset training, because building the body you want and achieving the nutrition you need does not only require order and discipline in diet and exercise, but in all aspects of your life. And trust me, I get how hard this could be. That is why I work with you to build not just your body, but your willpower. To me, this is the most important aspect that my training will give you because it translates to your life outside of the gym.
